THE LATEST AT OUTWRITE:

Atlanta (August 3, 2010) — Horror movie aficionado DON SUMNER visits Outwrite Bookstore
and Coffeehouse with his humorous guide for the HORROR MOVIE FREAK (Krause Publications) on
TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, at 7:30 p.m. Sumner talks about the genre,
reads from his book, and signs copies following the program. This event is free and open to the public.
You’ll scream with delight while reading Sumner’s
fun and engaging book as it recommends and explores the fright flicks all
horror fans need to see to ascend to the level of a true horror freak. Selected
by a panel of judges, independent filmmakers and writers, the salute to horror
movies includes classics (Frankenstein and The Wolfman), newer movies (Saw and
The Descent) and lesser-known gems (Dog Soldiers). Movies are divided into
various categories including Asian horror, homicidal slashers, supernatural
thrillers, and zombie invasion. Recommendations found in The Beginner’s Shelf
help horror novices gently ease into the genre and overcome their terrible
affliction of only watching romantic comedies.
Sumner’s first experience with horror was sneaking
up in the middle of the night to watch Terror Train on cable TV and he hasn’t
stopped since. He is the CEO of Horror Freaks Media LLC, has served as the
expert on horror movie locales for USA Today, and is committed to countering
the unenlightened views of movie critics who do not really “get” horror - the
dreaded “horror intelligencia. Sumner also serves as editor and webmaster of
the site best-horror-movies.com.
Zombie alert! The book includes a free DVD of George Romero’s classic, Night of the Living Dead.
